Ted Cruz is the best thing that has happened to American politics in many years. Your continuing efforts to slam him are indicative of the left leaning your blogs has.
I applaud Ted's filibuster and great effort to save America from the disaster of Obamacare. Does that make him "the best thing that has happened to American politics"? Hardly.
This is the problem: this is not a left/right question and in fact it is the false choice of the Left/Right paradigm that has destroyed our country. Rather we should view government in terms of freedom. The bigger government is, the less freedom we have. That's why I'm opposed to Obamacare, Obama and the the big government crowd, whether on the left or the right.
I am also not a libertarian, because some government is necessary and properly administered, can be beneficial to the people. The first order of government is to protect the people's borders. While Ted Cruz is properly against amnesty for illegal aliens and wants a secure border, on the other hand he wants to allow double the number of immigrants to flood our country and increase the H1B visa five hundred percent, while half of American can't find a full time job. We've discussed this before, here. The result is the same as it is now, except the foreigners will flood into our country "legally." Wages will continue to fall while unemployment will continue to rise under this plan. Why should American workers have to compete for a job in their own country with a foreign people that do not share his love of country and commitment to freedom?
America's founding fathers rightly kept immigration very limited for these very reasons; for if we give away our country to foreigners, we will also give away our freedoms that so many have sacrificed so much to achieve and keep. I have written about this before, here, and in many other places on this blog. We have witnessed the disaster of the Immigration Reform Act of 1965 with stagnated wages and rampant unemployment, as well as the increased population in favor of more government and expanded welfare programs which are antithetical to America. This is the poison pill of Ted's immigration policy that will destroy our country just as surely as Obamacare and the continued flood of both legal and illegal immigration into our country.
As long as Ted Cruz pursues and supports this immigration invasion into our country, anything else he does is of no effect, no matter how good it seems, because any good he does will be dismantled when he is gone. And the more liberal immigrants that are allowed into this country, the sooner he'll be gone and so will our freedom. The thing people fail to understand is how few free countries exist in this world. Most countries are socialist or totalitarian and most immigrants will come from socialist/totalitarian countries bringing with them their socialist/big government views and voting habits. They will not be educated in the founding principles of our country or our constitution; even our own children are not taught these things in our government run schools. And our country and our freedoms will be irrevocably lost in the tyranny of "democracy."
Only a return to our roots, to our Republic, to our constitution and a moratorium on immigration can save this country from the abyss of tyranny. This will not happen unless "conservatives" like our commenter educate themselves both in our history and and what it will take to turn our country around by freeing themselves from the Democrat/Republican trap of Left/Right thinking to a comprehension of freedom verses tyranny, and understand the tyranny of democracy.
But understand this, when democracy turns to tyranny (and it always does), the armed citizen still gets to vote. And we will vote for our country and for the freedom of American citizens. Make no mistake about it.
